If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll already know what today’s post is about… I gave a pre-announcement announcement there, because I just couldn’t keep this secret any longer. I’m SO EXCITED to introduce The Intentional Photographer: A workshop combining passion and purpose with business and art, debuting March 13-14, 2015.
This workshop has been so many years in the making, in my heart and business. I can’t wait to share some of the best and most important lessons I’ve learned over the years, and build into other photographers’ businesses.

“What sets me apart from other photographers? What makes my work different? What makes me different? Can I infuse meaning into every part of my business? Do I need a mission statement? Would a mission statement change the way that I shoot, or edit, or find clients? Does it matter if I know who I am, or can I just start walking and see where the path takes me?”
These questions are at the heart of The Intentional Photographer. Three years ago I found myself staring down my nose at my own work, trying to figure out what I was doing, why, and if it was all worth it. I had spent countless hours pouring myself into this business, treading water, feeling like I was going nowhere, and fast. And I didn’t know what I was trying to do, or, more importantly, why I was trying to do it.
It was then I realized that if I was going to pour my entire self into a business, I’d better have a pretty good reason for it. I needed a foundation to build on, and it needed to be strong.
This workshop is all about that foundation, about building something with intention, not just letting it unfold at will. Because we’re stronger when we know where we’ve come from, where we’re going, and why we’re on the path we walk. Our decisions make sense, and our purpose is clear, both to us and to those around us.
The Intentional Photographer is a two-day workshop that focuses on defining the “why” behind our work, and then breaks down a step-by-step process to incorporate that foundation into every part of your business, from marketing to editing to shooting. The workshop is for photographers looking to grow as business owners, to form friendships with a community of likeminded photographers, and to hone their message to create a more cohesive brand and defined body of work.
